Klerksdorp Goldfield
The principal objective in this area is to explore for potential extensions of high-grade Vaal Reef. A direct analogy of this situation occurs at the adjacent AngloGold Ashanti Moab Khotsong Mine, where the orebody is preserved at depths of the order of 3,000 to 3,500 metres. There are indications that similar geological conditions may exist in the area immediately to the east of the Klerksdorp Goldfield where Wits Gold has been granted prospecting rights.

Kromdraai Project

Drilling is scheduled to commence at Kromdraai during the first half of 2008. This area is situated adjacent to the Klerksdorp Goldfield, where the Vaal Reef is expected to be intersected at depths of 3500 - 4000 metres below surface.

The future of high grade gold mining in this region is dependent mainly on the identification of deep Vaal Reef resources similar to those being mined by AngloGold Ashanti at their Moab Khotsong Mine. Accordingly, Wits Gold has prioritised the Kromdraai block, situated immediately east of Buffelsfontein Mine, where previously borehole UC1962 intersected the Vaal Reef containing 36.2g/t Au over a width of 19.4cm (703cm.g/t). Drilling of borehole WDS 1 commenced in October 2008 and is currently drilling at depths of the order of 3700 metres, approximately 200 metres short of the anticipated reef position.

The results from the deep borehole, WDS1 in the Kromdraai block are eagerly awaited. These resources represent some of the long term optionality of Wits Gold.

Cyfervlei Project

Similar in geological setting to that of the Moab Khotsong Gold Mine. Boreholes drilled into the project area provided sufficient information for previous operators of the Buffelsfontein Mine to outline a resource of the order of 20 to 30Mt in this area.

Groenfontein Project

Historical drilling suggests that the Vaal Reef is likely to be at depths in excess of 5,000 metres. However, the interpretation of some of the boreholes indicates that blocks of Vaal Reef may be preserved at shallower elevations in the northwestern part of the project. A complete review of the available seismic and drilling information is necessary in order to prepare a definitive exploration strategy.
