A review of the geology of the Potchefstroom goldfield has defined six exploration projects in the area to the north of the town of Potchefstroom. The Company’s current focus is on the Boskop and Deelkraal South projects where preliminary work has commenced.

The Boskop Project contains Inferred Resources of 30.8Mt at 10.0g/t Au (10Moz). The primary target is the high-grade Carbon Leader Reef, within a depth range of 1 600m and 2 200m below surface. An in-house review of the geological structure has defined a significant block of mineralisation and two boreholes are planned during the near future, to test the geological model.

Deelkraal South is located immediately south of Harmony’s Kusasalethu Gold Mine and contains an estimated Inferred Resource of 20.5Mt at 14.6g/t (9.6Moz).The primary exploration target here is the Ventersdorp Contact Reef (VCR) which is also exploited at Kusasalethu.

A two-dimensional seismic reflection survey was completed at Deelkraal South by Wits Gold in June 2010, which served to constrain the characteristics of the VCR at depth relatively cost-effectively. The seismic interpretation confirmed that the VCR structures at Deelkraal South are a natural extension of the small scale structures found at the Kusasalethu Mine, and the data is currently being used to design a planned drilling programme.
