Wits Gold is a gold explorer and emerging producer registered in South Africa, established in 2003. It has had a primary listing on the JSE Limited (JSE: WGR) in Johannesburg, South Africa, since April 2006 and is governed by the regulations of the JSE. It has also maintained a secondary listing on Canada’s Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX: WGR) since January 2008. In addition, the Company has an ADR programme in the USA (OTC: WIWTY), backed by the Bank of New York Mellon.

The Company currently holds 14 New Order Prospecting Rights over properties that cover a collective area of 1 195km² in three goldfields of the Witwatersrand Basin, South Africa, a region long acknowledged as one of the world’s most prolific gold mining locations. The Company’s total SAMREC-compliant Mineral Resources are currently estimated at 156Moz of gold and 268Mlbs of uranium, independently confirmed by Snowden Mining Consultants. Included within the above Resources are NI 43-101-compliant Indicated Resources of 19.9Moz of gold and 5.4Moz of P&P Reserves.

Wits Gold’s asset portfolio features its two most advanced projects, the De Bron-Merriespruit (DBM) and Bloemhoek projects, located next to one another in the southern Free State goldfield and adjacent to Gold Fields’ Beatrix Mine and Harmony’s Joel operation. Two additional contiguous properties, Tweepan-Millo and Richelieu-Plecy, have also recently been added.

The assets also include three other projects in the southern Free State goldfield, namely the Robijn, Beisa North and Beisa South projects, where significant resources have been defined at depths shallower than 1 500m; two projects in the Potchefstroom goldfield (Boskop & Deelkraal South projects) and another in the Klerksdorp goldfield (Kromdraai Project). Both of these goldfields lie further north within the Basin.

In line with the requirements of the South African Mining Charter and the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act of South Africa (MPRDA), the Company has a 25% BEE shareholding through Tranter Kismet Investments, Continental Africa Gold Resources and the Wits Gold Women’s Trust. Its other major shareholders include the Harmony Group (SA) and a range of other institutions based mostly in the United Kingdom and the United States.
